Home Instead's Penarth Memory Café - Sporting Races

At our Penarth Memory Café session in August, Matt from Rise facilitated a marvellous mixed sporting session, which gave us a variety of races and matches to participate in.

Our 2 teams battled it out, race by race, match by match with a sprinkling of quiz time between heats.

This gave us the chance to exercise our minds, as well as our bodies.

The battle was fierce but fun and everyone got to hold the trophy in the end.

We were lucky to have our 2 local CSOs Dawn and Luke join us for the session and they were happy to join in with our teams.

Tom Geere – Healthy Living Officer from the Vale of Glamorgan came along to tell us about their Golden Pass Programme.

He also joined in with our teams and is pictured right.

Golden Pass Programme: Golden Pass is aimed at inactive adults aged 60+ and aimed at supporting them to become active. This will take shape by providing targeted individuals with a ‘free pass’ to join existing sessions, either in the community or at their local leisure centre, taking the financial barrier away from the participant, the Vale of Glamorgan will then reimburse the provider once the participant uses their ‘free pass’. The rationale behind this ‘free pass’ is that once the initial free sessions are finished, the participant will ideally continue with the activity at the sessions of choice. Refreshments were on hand throughout, brought to us by Phil Batchelor, owner and director of Home Instead Cardiff, Penarth and Barry.
