Village fairs to enjoy this summer

The charm of East Yorkshire is epitomized by its local village fairs, where community spirit, tradition, and entertainment come together to create unforgettable experiences. Barmby Moor Feast: 13th July, 2024

Much more than just a one day Village Fair, the Barmby Moor Feast is a traditional village event that has been going on for hundreds of years.  The day is hosted by the nominated Feast Queen and is a fundraiser for the Barmby Moor Playing Fields.

Highlights include:

  • Saturday 13th – Walking parade at 12:30 from the Village Hall down Chapel Street including the East Riding Pipe Band, classic cars from Classic Car Hire Yorkshire and of course the Feast Queen and her attendants.  After the parade the event kicks off in earnest with lots of fun including a fun dog show hosted by Wicstun Veterinary Group, animal petting with The Purple Pig Company, and a fun fair provided by M.J. Leisure – Old Tyme Funfair just to name a few.
  • Sunday 14th – The funfair will be back open for another day of fun

Giant Bradley Day, Market Weighton: 14th July, 2024

The Market Weighton village fair is a much-anticipated event that highlights the town’s rich history.  It’s named after William Bradley, “The Yorkshire Giant”, the tallest Englishman at 7 foot, 9 inches who lived in Market Weighton until his passing in 1820!  Attendees can look forward to:

  • Children’s Fancy Dress competition and plenty of other activities to entertain the kids
  • Abbadabbatwo, Abba tribute and other entertainment
  • Local Food & Drink – lots of stalls showcasing the local food and drink of the town

East Yorkshire Show & Family Fun Day: Brantingham Park Sunday 14th July

The East Yorkshire Show & Family Fun Day is a grand celebration that brings together families from across the region for a day of fun and excitement. Highlights of the event include:

  • Inflatable Zone: With bouncy castles, obstacle courses, and slides.
  • Petting Zoo and Alpacas: Offering hands-on animal experiences for children.
  • Live Entertainment: Music, dance performances, and circus acts throughout the day.
  • Food Court: A wide selection of international food trucks and stalls offering a variety of cuisines.

Bishop Wilton Show: 20th July, 2024

The Bishop Wilton Show is a highlight of the summer calendar, offering a delightful mix of rural attractions and modern amusements. Highlights include:

  • The Bishop Wilton Beast: A 7 mile cross country event. With a 900ft climb, it’s not for the feint of heart!
  • Main Ring Entertainment: Showcasing pony classes, dog agility, terrier racing, vintage parade and so much more!
  • Fun and Games: The Purple Pig company, Axe throwing and Hessle Dog Scurry

Cherry Burton Village Fair: Sunday 21st July, 2024

Cherry Burton’s village fair is known for its welcoming atmosphere and diverse range of activities. In addition to plenty of local food and drink stalls, this year’s fair will include:

  • Family Pet Classes: bring along your furry friend and show off their talents
  • Family Entertainment: Puppet shows, magic acts, and storytelling sessions for children.
  • Live Music: Six bands will entertain the crowd throughout the day
