Michelle Tennant awarded Queen’s Nurse accolade

Our Clinical Governance Lead, Michelle Tennant, was recently named a Queen’s Nurse by The Queen’s Nursing Institute (QNI). We’re delighted to see her officially receive her accolade at The Queen’s Nursing Institute Annual Awards Ceremony, celebrating high-achieving nurses like her.

The QNI gives recognises somebody as a Queen’s Nurse if they have demonstrated commitment to high standards of practice and person-centred care. With experience in various nursing roles, Michelle joined us in 2019 and has been instrumental in developing our ‘healthcare at home’ service, supporting our franchise offices as they deliver complex care in the community.

Vice President of the QNI, Dame Elizabeth Anionwu, presented Michelle with her certificate. Dame Elizabeth has received many accolades, in particular for being the UK’s first sickle cell nurse.

Michelle says: “What an honour to become a Queen’s Nurse: an accolade held by people who have made a significant difference to their communities. I was blown away by the other winners and the achievements they have made.

“There’s no doubt that the home care sector is evolving to meet a broader range of needs. Healthcare needs will be increasingly met at home and delivered by the person delivering other aspects of care. It’s exciting seeing Home Instead lead the way with this.”

Hosted at the Millennium Gloucester Hotel in London, the awards were attended by many people including trustees and fellows from the QNI and representatives from the Department of Health and Social Care.
