Warm Spaces in Reading: Accessible Locations for a Cosy Winter

Reading offers a range of warm spaces throughout the community. These locations provide warmth, refreshments, and the chance to enjoy activities or connect with others. Below are some welcoming spaces available:

Central Reading

  • Reading Museum: Located in Reading Town Hall, the museum offers a warm, cultural space with free entry and exhibits. Open Tuesday to Friday from 10am to 4pm and Saturdays until 5pm (closed December 24-January 2).
  • Libraries: Reading’s seven libraries provide book lending, free Wi-Fi, and cosy study spaces. Some libraries, likeCentral Library, also offer free tablet lending, making them great options to stay engaged and warm.
  • Winter Wellness Workshops: Held weekly at Central Library, these free, friendly workshops provide a creative outlet for those wanting to connect and unwind. Thursdays, 12pm to 1:30pm, and 2:30pm to 4pm. To book a place, email wintersupport@together-uk.org.

East Reading

  • Reading Central Seventh-day Adventist Church: Every Wednesday from 11am to 2pm, this warm space offers refreshments and a place to socialise at 2 Tilehurst Road.
  • St John and St Stephen’s Church: From a cosy community café to games and social meetups, this venue offers a warm spot at 121-147 Orts Road, with activities for parents, carers, and seniors.

North Reading

  • Caversham Baptist Church: Every Friday from 10am to 1:30pm, this welcoming space offers hot drinks and social games at South Street in Caversham.
  • Grace Church Caversham’s Wellbeing Café: Wednesdays, 7:30pm to 9pm, this space offers coffee, cake, and a safe place for adults to connect at 119 Peppard Road.
  • Weller Centre: Open Monday to Friday, 9:30am to 12pm, this cosy space provides tea, coffee, and biscuits, along with Wi-Fi and outlets for those needing a warm workspace at 110 Amersham Road.

West Reading

  • All Nations Christian Centre: From 12pm to 4:30pm, this centre offers a warm, safe environment at 1 Berkeley Ave.
