Mike, 44, from Marple Bridge, joined the team two years prior to receiving the award and was nominated by the owner of Home Instead High Peak, Paul Vickers. In nominating him, Paul said, “Mike is a genuine and special kind of Care Professional. He came to Home Instead with no caring experience but wanted to make a difference to the lives of others in his local community. He took to the role like a duck to water and has proved to be both an outstanding friend and a carer to all of his clients.”
In his role as a Care Professional, Mike often supports clients with complex needs and goes above and beyond to make sure he provides high quality, personalised support. When Mike discovered that one of his clients loves to paint, he became fully engaged in learning to paint with watercolours so that their time spent together was an enjoyable experience.
Paul Vickers concluded: “Mike has become the perfect Care Professional. His cool head and compassionate nature make him a truly inspirational individual. Not only does he support his clients to the highest standards, but he also takes time to support new caregivers when they begin caring for clients. His communication is faultless and I’m really proud that he reached the finals of these prestigious awards.”
