We provide respite care as part of our home care services in and around Hornchurch,Romford, Rainhamand surrounding areas.

Our Care Professionals are highly-trained and compassionate people who love making a difference in people’s lives and providing respite for those who need to take time for themselves.

When it comes to self-care, it’s common for carers to put themselves at the bottom of their priority list.

At Home Instead, we understand that caring for your loved one can become tiring and take its toll on our stress and emotions. Respite care allows you to take time out and look after yourself.

Respite care is proven to reduce stresses and tensions that come with caring while improving both yours and your loved one’s wellbeing. When tensions are relieved, you have better relationships with the person you’re caring for.

What is Respite Care?

Respite care is a term used for care services designed to give you a break from caring for a family member or friend. There are different types of respite care options available that we can assist with whatever your needs.

We understand that caring for another person can be physically and mentally demanding, especially when care is provided for long periods.

Our Care Professionals can safely come to visit your home to look after the person you care for on a regular basis. Our Care Professionals can take them out for a walk, to an activity group or day centre for as little or as long as required.

Why would I need Respite Care?

Respite care is a temporary care solution for carers when they are not available or need a break from their duties.

You might also need to arrange short-term respite care if you have to attend a family emergency or other commitments. Respite care will ensure that the person you are supporting always has someone there to help them if you’re not around.

We go through a thorough care assessment process to provide the highest quality care and take great care in matching our Care Professionals perfectly with your older adult.

Our Care Professionals can offer the following home care services;

  • Dementia care
  • Overnight care
  • Live-in Care
  • Assisted living
  • Companionship care
  • Home help
  • Housekeeping
  • Day-to-day tasks and activities

Our home care services also support older adults who need additional care following an operation or illness while their regular carer has a well-deserved break from their demanding duties of being a full-time carer.

A massive benefit of respite care is that it provides consistency to the person who requires care without any disturbances to their daily routines. Another advantage is that the person in need of care will receive outstanding care at home instead of moving into a residential care home.

Will respite care affect my carers allowance?

If you have time off from caring, there are special rules to decide whether you’ll continue to receive Carer’s Allowance. The basic rule is that you can continue to receive your Carer’s Allowance for up to four weeks in any six months if you have a break from caring.

However, the rules are complicated, so you should get specialist advice.

If you’re receiving any other benefits which include extra amounts for caring, these may be affected if you have a break from caring.
