Making a care enquiry

What to expect when you get in touch with us

Making a care enquiry

Having that first conversation with a loved one about receiving care isn’t always easy. It can be hard to know how to begin or what to say when you do. But once that initial hurdle has been crossed, what happens next? Here we talk you through what happens when you reach out to us at Home Instead Salisbury and Romsey, whether that’s by submitting an enquiry through our website or by giving us a call on 01722 443559.

One of our friendly team members will have an initial chat with you, finding out a bit more about your loved one’s needs and any support that they may currently be receiving as well as talking through any questions or concerns that you may have. If you’d like to take things further, we normally suggest that our registered manager, Liz, comes out to have a chat in person. This is a very light-touch meeting with no commitment or obligation on your part to take things further. It simply allows potential clients to find out more about us and vice versa, so that everyone can agree on the best approach going forward. Liz brings a wealth of experience to every enquiry so it should be a helpful conversation to have even if you do not end up proceeding further with us.

If everyone does agree that having some support from us would be the best option, we will typically make a second visit in order to gather the information that we need to write a care plan for Mum or Dad. This is typically done by our deputy care manager, Theresa. Theresa will find out more about your loved one’s life story, needs, and preferences in order to write a truly personalised care plan. She will also carry out the relevant risk assessments and go through the service agreement and other paperwork with Mum or Dad and/or anyone acting on their behalf.

The next step is for us to find the right Care Professional for your loved one, as we pride ourselves on the quality of the relationships between our clients and Care Pros. We consider personalities and interests as more practical factors such as availability in order to find the best person or people possible to support Mum or Dad. We will ensure that Care Pros are introduced to your loved one before they start delivering care and will provide them with ongoing support to enable them to provide the best care possible.

Once a care package is up and running, we’ll make sure to have regular touchpoints to check that everything is going well and to respond to changing needs, but clients or those acting on their behalf are also encouraged to reach out to us at any time with any questions, updates, or concerns. This may include planning for additional care should Mum’s or Dad’s needs change. While navigating the challenges of ageing isn’t always easy, rest assured that we are here to support you and your loved ones through that journey to the very best of our ability. So if you’ve had that first care conversation and you’re ready to explore next steps, please do get in touch. We look forward to hearing from you!
