Home Instead has become a corporate partner of the Stephen Joseph Theatre in Scarborough
We are proud to support Stephen Joseph Theatre by becoming a corporate partner. At Home Instead we admire the Theatre’s ambition to make theatre and cinema available to more people.
At Home Instead we believe passionately that people should be enabled to live the best life possible and continue to do the things they love as they grow older. SJT’s dementia-friendly projects are an amazing example of this and we hope Home Instead’s sponsorship can play a role in growing their reach.
If you are looking for dementia-friendly activities in Scarborough then the Stephen Joseph Theatre is a very good place to start. The theatre has worked hard to find ways to adapt productions and screenings to be more accessible to people living with dementia.
There may be technical adaptations made to the show, there will be flexible seating options and there is always a relaxed attitude to audience responses and movement in the auditorium. The theatre provides a quiet room, clear visual markers and signage, and additional staff to sensitively and respectfully welcome those living with dementia and their supporters.
All dementia-friendly performances will also be captioned – you’ll need to book a seat with a view of the caption screen if you would like to make use of this. You can find dementia-friendly performances by ticking the “dementia-friendly” box when searching on the “What’s On” page: https://sjt.uk.com/events
At Home Instead we are looking forward to working with the team at Stephen Joseph Theatre and finding ways to make theatre available to older people in Scarborough.
