Home Instead finds success with top sector awards

Within the space of one week Home Instead UK gained new additions to its trophy cabinet, having won at two top care award ceremonies.

The Home Care Awards, supported by the Homecare Association, celebrates innovation and exceptionally high standards in the sector. Home Instead UK National Office won ‘Training and Staff Development Expertise’. The judges were impressed by our recently adapted training programme for Care Professionals, which responds to the changing NHS and further integration between health and social care. We’re equipping Care Professionals with a broader range of healthcare skills to keep people well at home.

Three of our franchise offices were also successful:

But that wasn’t all! Members of the Home Instead family were delighted to attend the Leading Women in Care Awards. Girl power was in the air as they celebrated fantastic females across the care sector on the week of International Women’s Day.

Michelle Tennant, clinical governance lead at Home Instead, won ‘Leader of the Future in Home Care’. Collaborating with Skills for Care and the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC), Michelle helps develop guiding principles for delegated healthcare in social care. The judges were also wowed by her work giving home care workers the tools to be supported and fulfilled in their roles.

Michelle says: “It was an honour to be amongst so many people who feel just as strongly as I do about the supporting the sector. There’s so much room to innovate, particularly when it comes to incorporating healthcare into the home care sector. This award only makes me determined to do more!”

Congratulations are also in order for Karina Brown, owner of Home Instead Bromley. At the Leading Women in Care Awards, she was highly commended for ‘Business Woman of the Year in Home Care’. It recognises many successes she has seen lately, not least becoming a source of support for families in the community through her dementia support sessions.

Well done to all of the winners and nominees at the Home Care Awards and Leading Women in Care Awards.
