As we age, it is important to stay socially connected...here are some of our local social groups in our area.

As we age, maintaining social connections becomes increasingly important for our health and wellbeing. For older adults in Slough, there are numerous groups and organisations dedicated to promoting socialisation and community engagement.

Age UK Berkshire offers a range of activities and events for those over 50. Members can participate in a variety of interest groups, from walking and gardening to art and history. This group provides an opportunity for seniors to learn new skills, make new friends and stay active.

Another social group for seniors in Slough is the Age Concern Slough and Berkshire East, which offers a range of services, lunch clubs, and exercise programs. Their Silver Surfers program helps seniors to overcome digital barriers by providing training on how to use technology such as smartphones and tablets.

The Slough U3A organisation has a wide range of activities such as various sports, Bridge for fun, walking, poetry, play reading and drawing for older people in and around Slough. This not only provides an opportunity for exercise but also allows seniors to explore new parts of the community.

There is a free seated exercise class for older people on Tuesdays from 11am to 11.30am at Cippenham Library which is great for socialising and keeping fit.

Cippenham Baptist church holds the Haven coffee and cake morning for a chance to chat and socialise on Fridays at 10.30am-12.00pm. The Tuesday fellowship is also a chance for seniors to participate in quizzes, outings, speakers and bible studies on Tuesdays at 2.15pm.

In addition to these groups, there are many other ways for seniors to stay connected in and around Slough, such as volunteering or attending local events. Whether its through joining a group or simply getting out and exploring the community, staying socially engaged is key to maintaining a happy and healthy lifestyle as we age.
