Local lady, Priscilla Tickner from Solihull, recently completed a marathon in support of The Alzheimer’s Society. She completed the amazing 26.2 miles, plus an two extra miles
Priscilla, who is a caregiver for local home care company, Home Instead Solihull, ran through fields, climbed fences, was chased by sheep, splashed through puddles and negotiated grassy slopes to complete her marathon. To Priscilla’s surprise, the extreme underfoot conditions added a generous extra two miles to her route, taking her total distance up to 28 miles.
Priscilla commented on her amazing achievement: “I have never been a very sporty person but having completed Couch to 5K a few years ago I have slowly been running longer distances. 28 miles has been the ultimate challenge for me, and I am so proud of my achievement.
“I decided to ask friends and family to donate to the Alzheimer’s Society, as in my role as a caregiver I see first-hand how Alzheimer’s sadly affects so many families. The amazing around the clock support my colleagues at Home Instead provides to our clients inspired me to fundraise for this wonderful cause!”
Priscilla continued: “I’d like to thank Helen from CheeseCake Runner and my Beachbody Group for the amazing support and training to get me through this mammoth challenge.”
