Home Instead South Cheshire Launches "Stoma Mates" Support Group in Nantwich

“Stoma Mates” is a welcoming support group created for anyone affected by Stomas. The idea for the group was brought to life by one of our own dedicated team members, who is an ostomate herself. Drawing on her personal experience, she recognised the need for a space where people living with or supporting someone with a stoma could come together in a relaxed, understanding environment. Her passion and insight were instrumental in shaping the group, which aims to offer both support and connection.

The inaugural meeting took place in March and received a great response from the local community. We were honoured to be joined by the Mayor of Nantwich for what turned into a heart warming afternoon filled with conversation, laughter and genuine connection.

Stoma Mates is open to anyone whose life has been touched by stoma surgery – whether you’re living with a stoma, preparing for surgery, supporting a loved one, or working as a Care Professional. It’s an informal, friendly space where people can share experiences, find encouragement, and connect with others who truly understand what they’re going through.

At Home Instead South Cheshire, we’re committed to supporting the whole person, physically, emotionally and socially. Stoma Care At Home | Home Instead This group reflects that ethos, providing a safe and welcoming environment where lasting friendships can form.

As the group grows, we plan to introduce occasional guest speakers and explore topics of interest suggested by members. But above all, Stoma Mates will always be a relaxed, friendly social group.
