We're thrilled to announce that our Senior Care Professional, Linda is our new Dementia Trainer and Champion!
Home Instead South Devon is thrilled to announce that our Senior Care Professional, Linda Prain, is our new Dementia Trainer. Linda brings over 20 years care experience to her new role which will see her delivering Home Instead’s bespoke City & Guilds assured dementia training to the our team of care professionals as well as the wider Torbay and South Devon community.
The training teaches innovative techniques for dealing with dementia with care professionals learning effective ways of managing the vast range of behaviours associated with the condition. This includes challenging actions like refusal, delusions, aggression, false accusations, wandering and agitation. A key outcome is that care professionals learn to respect the person as an individual and can observe and support their lives.
Speaking about Linda’s appointment, our director, Douglas said, “We support many clients living with a dementia diagnosis so it’s really important that our care professionals have a clear understanding of the condition and the behaviours associated with it.
“It’s fantastic to be able to support these clients to continue living at home with specialised care which is crucial to their health and wellbeing.
“We are delighted that Linda is taking on the important role of Dementia Trainer within our organisation.”
We are also keen to share our specialist knowledge with our local community across the area and is offering to deliver Community Dementia Workshops to local organisations who want to know more.
Continuing, Douglas said, “We are keen to make a contribution to make the local area as dementia friendly as we can. That starts with making more people aware of the condition and the impact it has on people.
“So, whether it’s a family member providing care for a loved one, a businesses that deals with the elderly, we are more than happy to share our knowledge.”
