This year, Carers Rights Day takes place on Thursday, 21st November, with the theme: Recognising Your Rights.
Every day, an estimated 12,000 people become unpaid carers for a partner, family member, or friend. Many don’t identify as carers and are often unaware of the legal rights, support, and benefits available to them. The focus of this year’s theme is to help carers not only understand their rights but also access the support they need when they need it most.
Understanding your rights as a carer is crucial. It empowers you with the knowledge to confidently ask for the help you’re entitled to and to challenge situations where your rights aren’t upheld. Whether it’s in the workplace, education, healthcare, or social care settings – or even at home – knowing your rights can make a significant difference. At Home Instead, we see every day how essential the role of carers is, whether they’re family members, friends, or professional caregivers like us.
How Home Instead Supports Carers
At Home Instead, we provide more than just professional care; we also offer support to families who may be acting as unpaid carers. Whether it’s respite care to give family carers a well-earned break or expert advice to navigate the complexities of caregiving, we are here to help.
We also celebrate and honour the hard work of professional caregivers within our team. Their dedication to making a difference in the lives of others reflects the true spirit of care and compassion.
