Our local Home Instead groups in Warsash continue throughout the summer for seniors living with dementia and their caregivers.
It’s time to embrace the warmth of summer, by attending one of our groups! While the summer can mean a change to timetables for some, rest assured that at Home Instead Southampton, we’re continuing to provide our regular groups and activities for our clients and older adults in the Warsash and Southampton area throughout June, July and August.
Our groups meet regularly, provide a warm-hearted atmosphere and are suitable for those living with dementia and their loved ones. All are welcome to attend one of our sessions.
Location: Warsash United Reformed Church, 55 Warsash Rd, Warsash, Southampton SO31 9HW
When: Twice a month, on the second and fourth Wednesday, we host a free Memory Café from 2 pm to 4pm.
A memory café is a place where those experiencing memory loss can meet up and socialise, and expand their support network. During these friendly meetups, our clients and local people living with dementia or experiencing memory loss, together with their family carer or Care Professionals, are invited to join us at the Warsash United Reformed Church for a cosy afternoon filled with activities, tea, coffee and cake.
You are welcome to simply enjoy the time with a cuppa and a slice of cake, although this isn’t your standard café visit, here it’s memory-loss and dementia-friendly, and you can feel connected to others in our community, and enjoy engaging activities such as word searches, bingo and crosswords.
We also have local history books brimming with images of Southampton from the 1940s to transport our attendees back in time! Photos can take us on a trip down memory lane into the past, and can provide familiarity, prompt memories and initiate conversations for shared enjoyment and smiles.

When: On the third Wednesday of every month, we turn the same venue into a mini concert hall for our Singing to Remember sessions in the afternoon.
It’s a friendly environment and the chance to sing along to old-time favourites. Led by one of our amazing Care Professionals from Home Instead Southampton, these afternoons are filled with jolly tunes that can get the mind and even the body moving! Tap your feet and join in with some old favourites, we choose familiar tunes that are easy to join in with, and will help keep your brain active while bringing back some memories. We’ll provide song sheets and musical instruments, although you don’t need to be musical, everyone is welcome to join in, in their own way. Coffee and cake is provided, and this group provides a bit of fun, and an opportunity to be together, while keeping the brain active in a very enjoyable way.
