It is a month-long campaign dedicated to raising awareness about pancreatic cancer and its impact
Pancreatic cancer is one of the deadliest and least understood forms of cancer, with more than half of people diagnosed with pancreatic cancer dying within 3 months
The goal of Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month is to increase awareness of the disease, its risk factors, and the importance of early diagnosis. Here are some ways to get involved in Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month 2023 in the UK:
- Turn it Purple: Help raise awareness of pancreatic cancer by turning your home or workplace purple, the colour associated with pancreatic cancer awareness. You can also encourage local landmarks to light up purple on World Pancreatic Cancer Day on November 16th.
- Fundraise: You can fundraise for Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month by taking on Challenge 24, walking, jogging, or cycling 24 miles in November, or hosting your own 24-themed fundraiser. The funds you raise could support research into early detection and better treatments, and provide health professionals with the tools they need to spot patients’ symptoms earlier.
- Share information: Share information about pancreatic cancer on social media using the hashtag #PancreaticCancerAwarenessMonth. You can also share information about the signs and symptoms of pancreatic cancer and the importance of early detection.
- Attend an event: Check with local organizations or charities that support people with pancreatic cancer to see if they are hosting any events to mark the month
