Home Instead Caring Library

We are proud to launch our new Home Instead Caring Library - a resource for the whole community across our Stourbridge, Hagley and Halesowen territory.

A wide range of caring books

Most of the books in the Home Instead Caring Library are self help books or they are written to support members of the family who are carers for a loved one.  There is a mixture of biographical, fictional and non fictional choices covering dementia, stroke, Parkinson’s, arthritis and more, so we are more than happy for members of the community to come along to our training suite and browse through the collection.

We also understand that seeing an older family member struggling with their health can be difficult for children and sometimes it can be difficult to discuss the subject so having a book to read together can be an easier, softer way to tackle the subject as it is a little removed from talking about the person.  We are still building this collection, but please give us a call to see what we have already or please let us know if you have any recommendations.

Finally we have a collection of local history books and historical photo albums from Wordsley to Wollaston and Hagley to Halesowen, and these can be a fantastic way to share memories with family members, particularly those living with Alzheimer’s or other dementias who have problems with short term memory but still have amazing recall of memories from their early years.  Time spent reminiscing can be a very relaxing therapy for everyone.

If you would like to borrow any of the books from our Caring Library, please give us a call or come along to our office in Hagley and we will be very happy to let you have a browse.  If you have any suitable books that you no longer need, please also let us know so we can continue to build the library as a resource for the community.
