Paving the Way in Dementia Care

Home Instead Sutton: Supporting Families Through the Ageing Crisis

Home Instead have been conducting vital research in 2024, which concerns ageing and the impacts of our ageing population. From politics, to wellbeing and health care, The New Ageing Index successfully reveals how families and communities are coping with our ageing population, their concerns and what we need to do moving forward.

Dementia is not just a health condition—it’s a societal challenge that touches countless lives. As the New Ageing Index reveals, 83% of people believe better treatment options at home would dramatically improve the lives of families affected by dementia. This finding underscores the need for innovative care solutions like those offered by Home Instead Sutton, where we prioritise personalised, home-based care that preserves dignity and independence. The research has in fact found that dementia, and the rise of dementia is one of the most-feared health conditions for older adults. If you would like to find out more about dementia and what the symptoms are, please do read our blog for more information.

Dementia’s impact extends far beyond the individual. The Index shows that 45% of caregivers experience financial strain due to their caregiving responsibilities, while over half report that their duties take time away from their own families. These challenges highlight the importance of care models that don’t just address the needs of clients but also support their families. At Home Instead Sutton, we do exactly that. Our flexible care visits allow families to maintain balance in their lives while ensuring their loved ones receive the best possible care. This means that family members can return to being family, and not carers.

Home environments are often overlooked as places for effective dementia treatment, despite 64% of people believing they are underutilised. At Home Instead Sutton, we recognise the value of care delivered in familiar surroundings. Our approach not only enhances comfort and stability for clients but also reduces the emotional and logistical challenges families face when navigating traditional care settings.

In 2025, education is a huge part of Home Instead’s mission to highlighting the challenges of dementia.  By equipping families with the knowledge they need to understand dementia and make informed decisions, we’re fostering a community where no one feels left behind. Our workshops, consultations, and personalised care plans are designed to empower families to face the challenges of dementia care with confidence and hope. With this in mind, Home Instead have just launched a You Tube channel called Home Truths. Home Truths is an invaluable resource and a space to raise awareness and offer practical support around dementia and caring for older adults. It’s a resource for families, carers, and the wider community.

We believe that the ageing crisis is an opportunity to innovate, educate, and connect. Through our efforts, we’re not just responding to the needs of today—we’re shaping a future where ageing is embraced with compassion and understanding.
