I’m very grateful to Swindon Borough Council for having partnered with us to allow use of their Civic Offices to be used to host the event in central Swindon.

Virtual Dementia Experience coming to Swindon on 29th August 2024!
Join us for an immersive dementia experience that we are running in collaboration with Training 2 Care.
Training 2 Care’s Virtual Dementia Tour is visiting a number of Home Instead offices across the country during August and we (Home Instead Swindon) have been chosen as one of the locations to host the ‘dementia bus’! Whilst our office is based in Shrivenham, we are delighted to partner with Swindon Dementia Action Alliance to offer this experience at Civic Offices Euclid Street, Swindon SN1 2JH.
The Virtual Dementia Tour offers a scientifically proven way to replicate dementia and is an invaluable learning experience for anyone who is supporting a person living with the condition.
Highly visual and aural, the experience (which takes place on a specially adapted bus) sees participants wearing googles, headphones and spiky insoles. They are then asked to perform everyday tasks but with distorted vision, loud noises and sensory overload which replicate the sensory changes associated with dementia, causing difficulty and distress.
Each ‘experience’ lasts 3 hours from start to finish. We have one session running in the morning from 10am and another in the afternoon from 1.30pm.
Places are limited – there are only 14 spaces for the morning and 14 spaces for the afternoon sessions.
We are offering places on the experience at £60 per person (£50 Plus VAT) and I would be delighted if you were able to join us.
