Care to capture the imagination

One of our care professionals has been sharing the joy of having her previous love of reading reawakened by a client.
Katherine has always had a passion for books, but in recent years the amount of time she has spent curled up with a good read has dwindled. Since working for Home Instead, Katherine has been supporting a number of clients who are avid book fans. This has been a huge inspiration for her. Katherine feels privileged to work in a role that allows her to make connections with individuals who have had rich life experience. She recognises that their stories have enabled her to expand her own understanding of the world. The icing on the cake has been discovering a new literary life. “I have a couple of very well read clients who both have such a passion for literature that it has reawakened my own interest in reading. They both are big fans of the biographer Claire Tomalin, who writes about many of my favourite authors. I was leant a copy of her biography on Thomas Hardy and now I have moved on to Jane Austin. I have definitely joined the Tomalin fan club”.
