Autumn Activities: Upcoming Local Autumn Events we’re Excited to Share with our Clients
Autumn is a season of vibrant change, and there’s a lot happening locally that captures this spirit. We’ve curated a list of events that our clients and Care Professionals would find both enjoyable and meaningful. These day-outs aren’t just about spending time outside the home; they’re about enriching lives through shared experiences in our wonderful community.
1. Butchers Hall Autumn Fair (20th – 22nd October 2022)
Butchers Hall in Tavistock offers a marketplace that showcases the craftsmanship and cultural heritage of our region. It provides an inviting atmosphere for clients and their Care Professionals to explore unique finds in textiles, glass, pottery, and woodwork, all while engaging with local artisans.
2. Drawn to Cotehele (22nd September – 1st October)
Cotehele remains a much-loved destination among our clients, and it’s easy to see why. With many of our clients avid artists, the art exhibition this autumn presents an opportunity for clients and families to connect with local culture and art history. The event runs from 11 am to 4 pm and we’re sure will be an enjoyable daytime out!
3. Elizabeth-Jane Baldry: A Harpist Like No Other (Saturday 21st October, 2023)
Elizabeth-Jane Baldry, renowned as a great artist and consummate performer, promises an evening of unparalleled harp music. Her warm and approachable presentation style complements her exquisite playing. A full-time professional musician for almost thirty years, she has a reputation for her unique ability to draw an array of tone colours from her harp.
4. Craft Fair and Pumpkin Festival at Poundstock Gildhouse (28th and 29th of October)
Set in a Tudor structure of historical significance, the Craft Fair and Pumpkin Festival in Bude offers a sophisticated variety of crafts, food, and drink. It’s an occasion for enjoyment and social interaction, complemented by competitions that add a light-hearted touch to the day. Many of our client’s families will enjoy this event, especially if they have grandchildren!
5. Leveret: A Unique Folk Collaboration (Saturday 7th October, 2023)
Featuring Andy Cutting on button accordion, Sam Sweeney on fiddle, and Rob Harbron on concertina, Leveret is a unique collaboration between three of England’s finest folk musicians. With no two performances alike, their music is an ever-evolving conversation between the instruments.
6. Calstock Arts on the Tamar River
Situated on the beautiful Tamar River, Calstock Arts is a popular setting that blends natural beauty with artistic finesse. The venue is not just a space but an experience that brings together people who appreciate the profound impact of good music. This October, Calstock Arts is hosting several events, and two in particular caught our eye:
7. Harvest Weekend at Buckland Abbey (21-22 October, 10 am-5 pm)
Focused on celebrating local agriculture, this event provides an educational and scenic experience. Clients can learn about the history of Buckland Abbey as a working estate, spot pumpkins, and enjoy seasonal treats from the café!
