Lynn Roddy established the office in 2018 and we’re proud to be CQC Outstanding. Our dedicated, professional team from across the area provides a range of home care services. Whether it’s companionship in Holsworthy, specialist assistance in Callington, dementia care or much more, we cover all the bases.

Meet the team

Lynn founded Home Instead, Tavistock and Tamar Valley in 2018. This followed a career as an Army officer, raising a family, and caring for her mum who ultimately lost her battle with dementia.
Lynn is very active in the community supporting those with dementia.

Mike is co-founder with Lynn. After a first career as a Royal Marines officer, he spent 10 years in business consultancy.
Passionate about care, his top priority is promoting the culture and values of the company - helping us to deliver care differently to other providers.

Sandie has been with us from the start and has recently stepped back from being the Registered Manager. A proud mum and grand mum, her extensive career spans care, banking, and mean pub quizzes!

Hayley grew up in the Tamar Valley and has worked in care since 2004. She is NVQ level 5 and our Registered Manager.

Rooted in the community and keeper of a menagerie of pets, she is the principle contact for our clients and Care Professionals.

Clare has over 20 years’ experience in recruiting, training, and development prior to joining Home Instead in early 2021.
She’s a friendly and knowledgeable first point of contact. She loves to see new Care Professionals thrive and gain confidence.

Anne has lived near Tavistock for over 30 years, always working in the care sector, and having run a residential home for people with long term mental health problems. Anne collects Springer Spaniels!

Klara has over ten years of experience working in care, after a first career as a primary school teacher. Klara spends her time with the jigsaw puzzle which is the matching of our Care Professionals to our clients and ensuring all the schedules run smoothly.

After 30 years in retail, Rachel found her passion when she joined Home Instead, initially as a Care Professional.
Later she joined the office team bringing her experience to help build relationships with our clients in Torpoint and Saltash.

Kaye has lived in Tavistock for over 30 years and worked as a higher-level teaching assistant.
Relatively new to care but with a wealth of life skills, she loves the new opportunities. She is now a co-facilitator for our Talking Therapy groups as well as a Senior.

Sarah moved to Holsworthy in 2021 and has enjoyed a fulfilling, people-focused career in the care sector for over 25 years.
She relishes the opportunities for professional development in care and is passionate about helping our clients around Holsworthy and Bude.

Megan joined us in late 2022 as an apprentice and with a deep commitment to develop her career in the care sector.
She is enjoying the breadth of her initial training and getting to know how we work. She will soon start to apply her knowledge as a Care Professional.

Sean is a qualified Counsellor and a volunteer counsellor for a youth project in Saltash. He is also a Care Professional, Field Support Mentor, and a member of our On Call team.

We started using Home instead when Mum was 92 and still living completely independently. In the early days the visit each day was largely for companionship and to keep an eye on. As the months went by and Mum’s needs grew the team was brilliant at gradually increasing their input and assisting with meals, cleaning and personal care. The service and our requirements were frequently reviewed and adapted to our needs; changing the time of day and number of visits as mum’s needs changed. As she approached 95 Mum needed more frequent care and we chose to access this support using Home Instead rather than a care home for as long as possible. Only when it became clear that 24-hour residential was needed did we choose to move her from her own home.

The whole process at Home Instead was highly professional and the care and compassion offered to both my mum and dad was amazing. Their needs were discussed with the family and considered at all times. Communication was excellent with updates on each visit and any concerns were immediately highlighted with a telephone call. They were able to cover bank holidays and never let us down on a single visit which is invaluable when you do not live nearby. I highly recommend Home Instead as a home carer provider.

My experience was entirely positive. From first contact over the telephone to each subsequent step I felt there was a genuine concern to give quality care for my Dad and me. Details of our personal needs were sought and then catered for, to achieve a truly individual service. Their care added quality to my father’s life in his last year. My confidence in their support was well placed, from carers to managers and administrative staff. I would also mention that I came to like the part of the welcome pack that showed you the photographs of the team who might be answering your phone calls. Another humanising touch in their approach.
