The highlight of the day was undoubtedly the enchanting performance by James Martyn, who graced the gathering with his talent for the first time. His music resonated with the audience, leaving an indelible impression. Everybody was very impressed with him, and his music set the perfect tone for the day.
Following the musical interlude, it was time for some classic games of bingo and an exciting raffle. The atmosphere buzzed with anticipation as the lucky winners claimed their prizes. To wrap up the lunch, a spirited game of sticky 13 brought smiles and camaraderie to the fore, a fitting end to a delightful afternoon.
This Friendship Lunch was more than just fun and games. It was an informative event that brought together guests from various organisations dedicated to enhancing the well-being of the Wakefield community. Representatives from the Alzheimer’s Society, Stroke Association, Turning Point, MNDA, Parkinson’s Support Group, Live Well Wakefield, and Healthwatch Wakefield were present, offering valuable support and advice.

The Friendship Lunch was graced by distinguished guests, Cllr Josie Pritchard, Mayor of Wakefield, and Cllr Melanie Jones, Mayoress, who lent their support to this wonderful community event. Hampsons Plant World played the perfect host for this heartwarming event, and credit goes to Amanda, Gill, and ALL the staff who worked tirelessly to ensure that everything ran smoothly.
