Home Instead Wandsworth thanks ‘Under the Willow Nursery’ in Dulwich for sponsoring a Christmas lunch at the Sunflower Community Cafe for older adults.
As we approach the run up to the festive season, we want to extend our sincere thanks to Under the Willow Nursery in Dulwich for their generous sponsorship of the last Christmas lunch for older adults at our Sunflower Community Cafe.
Thanks to their generosity, 35 local older adults who attended the cafe were able to enjoy a warm festive meal, bringing everyone together for a joyful celebration. This act of kindness truly made the event special, and the room was filled with joy and warmth.
We love working with local partners like Under the Willow Nursery, a family-owned and established local nursery, who add immense value to our community by nurturing the youngest among us, while we at Home Instead focus on supporting seniors and older adults. It’s inspiring to see how we can all make a difference in our local community.
Under the Willow Nursery follows the Montessori method, which nurtures independence, respect, and personal growth in children. The Montessori approach creates a calm, stimulating environment that encourages curiosity and learning. These principles resonate with our work at Home Instead Wandsworth, Lambeth and Dulwich where we provide personalised care that promotes dignity and independence for older adults.
Montessori principles can be applied to the care of older adults, particularly those living with dementia. Creating structured, engaging environments where older adults feel supported can enhance their quality of life.
Both Montessori education and our care approach value respect for the individual and aim to create supportive environments that encourage confidence and engagement, to live well at any age.
The Sunflower Cafe, hosted by Home Instead Wandsworth, Lambeth, and Dulwich, is held every Wednesday at Balham Baptist Church. This dementia-friendly space offers older adults a place to connect, enjoy activities, and take a break from their daily routine.
The Christmas lunch, sponsored by Under the Willow Nursery, made this weekly gathering even more special, bringing a warm meal to all attendees, spreading festive cheer and creating an atmosphere of togetherness. The Cafe is a vital part of our work in the community, helping older adults stay connected and engaged, in a supportive environment.
