Celebrating the Community Café’s first Birthday.

This week’s café was all about celebrating the Café’s first Birthday, we cannot believe that the café has been running for a year, and what a wonderful year this has been.

This week’s café was all about celebrating the Café’s first Birthday, we cannot believe that the café has been running for a year, and what a wonderful year this has been. The café has grown from strength to strength.

We are so humbled to be able to host the café twice a month and we know that we have been making a difference helping improve moods and wellbeing. We always have fun and support in helping all participants to remain socially connected.

The room was expertly decorated by our partly planner extraordinaire Leahanne, from the Home Instead office, and we were in full birthday party mode to welcome everyone. It was wonderful to welcome a couple of new participants on such a joyous occasion.

We started the café off with a quiz from Bob and this week it was a 70’s and 80’s quiz. It was lovely for the café to share its first birthday with one of our participants Sandra, as we sang happy birthday the volunteers sliced birthday cake ready for tea, cake and chats. Joan our volunteer had previously collected all the participants dates of births they learnt lots of interesting facts about that year and their lucky colours and numbers.

We learnt to sign ‘Happy Birthday’, hosted a word game and we also launched our fast finger first game, where we split into 2 teams and each table were given a buzzer – 5 facts were read out about a celebrity or know person and they all had to guess who this person was.

Thank you to everyone who participates, and volunteers who make a difference in our local community. We are looking forward to welcoming you all back on 13th March for St Patricks day theme café.
