Festive Party

To mark almost a year of the Community Cafe – last week’s café was their Christmas party. With everyone on hand to set up the room, we really do need to give Leahanne, from Home Instead office team a huge thank you for decorating the room wonderfully.

We are so pleased to be able to host these cafes and especially during the festive period, there are many people who can feel isolated and lonely. Home Instead Charity feel that it is important to allow the local community to come together and enjoy these special occasions as sometimes this can be the only companionship they may have.

The volunteers welcomed all participants who arrived in their Christmas jumpers and hats each participant brought a selection of buffet foods for all to enjoy.

We had two fabulous quizzes, one hosted by our quiz master Bob and the other by Barbara who did a great Christmas quiz. There was a raffle with some wonderfully donated raffle prizes, pass the parcel, a love to move chair-based exercise session, carol singing and in true café style we incorporated sign language, learning to sign ‘Merry Christmas’

It certainly was a lot of fun and laughter, and it was wonderful to see all participants enjoy some Christmas festivities.

Each participant was handed a 2025 Calendar, dates for the new sessions next year, a handmade snowman Christmas tree decoration and chose either a box of 4 homemade mince pies or a crocheted bag with a few goodies inside – all with a handmade Christmas gift labels before they left the café.

Huge thank you to all the volunteers involved on making the café run smoothly and to all the participants who come each week, it has been lovely to see friends and bonds grow, and we are very much looking forward to welcoming you back in the new year.
