Start the day with breakfast out and about in Wembley
If you have an aging relative or friend who’s a fairly early riser, why not treat them to something different – a tasty breakfast in Wembley or the surrounding area?
Sometimes it’s good to ring the changes with a senior – it gives them a break from their routine and something different to experience. Our Care Professionals at Home Instead Wembley recommend the following four cafés as enjoyable local places to take a loved one for breakfast. We hope you like them too!
Bread Ahead
While taking a morning stroll in Wembley Park, why not pop into Bread Ahead for a quick (or even slow) breakfast? Bread Ahead has several bakeries and baking schools across London but the Wembley Park franchise is its first, all-day dining restaurant. As well as serving the bakery’s own breads and pastries, it offers a variety of other scrummy food, ranging from doughnuts and salads through to stone-baked pizzas and rotisserie chickens. It also caters for those who prefer gluten-free or vegan options.
The restaurant has indoor and outdoor seating and good wheelchair access. Prices are on the high side but the restaurant says that this is because it uses fresh, high-quality ingredients. Bread Ahead is open from 8:00am to 6:00pm on weekdays, 9:00am to 6:00pm on Saturdays; and 9:00am to 5:00pm on Sundays.
Haute Dolci
Another interesting venue in Wembley Park, very close to the stadium, is Haute Dolci. Its name is a blend of French and Italian and means high-quality desserts. If you’re looking for a real treat for your older guest, this could be the one for you! ‘Luxury’ is the word that comes to mind when visiting the restaurant or sampling the food it serves. The latter includes sumptuous brunches or breakfast with items such as waffles, delicious granola bowls and fried, scrambled or poached eggs – all with a special twist. There’s also a good selection of hot and cold drinks as well as the desserts from which the restaurant takes its name. For guests with special dietary requirements, there are gluten-free and vegan options.
Haute Dolci opens every day of the week at 10:00am. There’s disabled access and takeaways are also available. The site has parking nearby.
Gloria Bistro
Moving further afield, in Harrow (very close to Harrow and Wealdstone railway station and Bakerloo underground station), you can find Gloria Bistro, known for its good quality coffee. As well as a wide variety of hot and cold drinks, it also offers paninis, croissants and a wide range of salads, omelettes, fried meals and soup. It’s a friendly little café with music playing and also specialises in Greek food.
The bistro is open from 6:00am each weekday and from 6:30am on Saturdays. It’s closed on Sundays.
Cloud7
Moving a little further from Wembley, to the Edgware area, you can find Cloud7 in Handel Parade, just off the B461(Whitchurch Lane). This provides breakfast, brunch or just a hot or cold drink (including coffee, hot chocolate, tea, smoothies) and a light bite. Its offerings include pancakes, croissants, waffles, French toast and, for the really hungry, the café’s hearty brunches! One customer described the pancakes as, “Probably the best pancakes we’ve ever had.” The café also serves Mediterranean and halal food.
We’ve found that there’s very tasty food and a friendly service at Cloud7. The café is closed on Mondays but is open all other days, from 9:00am to 8:00pm. Free Wi-fi is available at the café. The one big disadvantage is that there are steps at the entrance, so it isn’t suitable for those with restricted mobility.
Why not try out one of these cafés or restaurants one morning? You might find that going out for an occasional breakfast soon becomes an enjoyable habit! Our Care Professionals find that it can sometimes be a great way to get an elderly client’s day off to a good start.
