Our companionship services are relationship-based and at Home Instead you’ll get to know your regular Care Professional. Our Care Professionals bring varied life experiences and interests, and are matched to you. We like to do things together with our clients – whether that’s tackling a crossword, pottering in the garden, or enjoying a walk along Helensburgh waterfront. Our one-hour minimum visits give plenty of time to build genuine friendships whilst staying alert to any changes in wellbeing.
We offer two types of home care: hourly care, where we visit at set times, or live-in care, where a carer resides in the home. Both are overseen by our care management team and delivered by compassionate Care Professionals. Each care package is made up of of a unique mix services to meet your needs.
Companionship care
We carefully match Care Professionals with clients to ensure a meaningful bond is created.
Home help & meal prep
Keeping the home environment clean, safe, and nourishing with home-cooked meals.
Personal care
Assistance with bathing, dressing, and personal hygiene, always respecting the dignity of your loved one.
Mobility support
Helping your loved one move around their home safely, including transfers and positioning.
Health appointment management
We support you to attend those important health appointments.
Community engagement
We enable you to continue to do the things you enjoy, be it a visit to the garden centre or your local art group.
Transportation
Assistance getting you from A to B, whether it be to go visit a friend or help with your shopping.
Medication management
Ensuring medicines are taken correctly and on time, supporting overall health.

Our local office team in Dumbarton, led by Chris, Austin and Care Manager Pauline, provides ongoing support to clients, families and Care Professionals. We carefully select our team at Home Instead West Dunbartonshire for their skills, enthusiasm, empathy, values and friendliness. Our Care Professionals complete industry-leading training, comprehensive, multi-day hands-on training that goes beyond basic care skills. We’re proud that many of our Care Professionals have been with us for years – we celebrate their work anniversaries and invest in their development, which means our clients benefit from experienced, familiar faces who feel happy and well-supported.
Since 2021, we’ve built strong connections with community groups across West Dunbartonshire, Argyll, Bute and Arran, from social clubs to healthcare providers. Companionship care focuses on a clients social needs and daily tasks at home whereas personal care is support with daily living such as bathing or dressing.

Older adults living alone won’t always need companionship care, it is often most beneficial for individuals who require more social interaction or feel isolated from friends and family.
