The Older People Provider's & Memory Support Fayre brought together a wealth of services, groups, and organisations dedicated to supporting ageing across West Lothian
We are delighted to share that the Older People Provider’s & Memory Support Fayre, held on Wednesday 5th March at Howden Park Centre, Livingston, was a resounding success!
The event brought together a wealth of services, groups, and organisations dedicated to supporting ageing adults, their families, carers, and professionals across West Lothian.
We would like to extend our deepest gratitude to everyone who attended, from ageing adults and family members to dedicated carers and professionals. Your engagement, curiosity, and enthusiasm truly made this event special. The sense of community and support in the room was palpable, and it was inspiring to see so many people coming together to learn, share, and connect.
A huge thank you also goes out to the incredible service providers, groups, and organisations that participated. With over 30 stalls offering invaluable information and advice, along with insightful TED-style presentations, attendees were able to access a wealth of knowledge and resources. Your dedication to improving the lives of older adults in West Lothian is truly commendable, and we are grateful for your contributions.
One of the standout features of the event was the Home Instead Virtual Dementia Tour Bus. This immersive experience allowed attendees to step into the shoes of someone living with dementia, fostering greater understanding and empathy. The feedback we received was overwhelmingly positive, with many attendees expressing how eye-opening and impactful the experience was.
One participant shared that the Dementia Bus was: “A very useful sensory and learning experience, which gave an insight into the issues faced by any service user or individual experiencing dementia.”
In addition to the informative stalls and presentations, attendees had the opportunity to explore a wide range of topics, including:
The success of this event would not have been possible without the collaboration of so many dedicated organisations. A special mention goes to the Memory Information Support Team (MIST) at Carers of West Lothian, who celebrated their 1st anniversary on the day of the event and were fundamental to making this happen.
We were also privileged to have the involvement of organisations such as OPAL Cyrenians, Food Train, Alzheimer Scotland, Sporting Memories, Ageing Well, Generation Arts, West Lothian 50 Plus Network, Age Scotland and many more. Your presence and expertise were invaluable in making this event a meaningful and informative experience for all.
This event reinforced the importance of continued support and collaboration in ensuring that ageing adults and their carers have access to the resources they need. Given the fantastic turnout and positive feedback, we look forward to hosting similar events in the future. Stay tuned for updates on upcoming initiatives!
Once again, thank you to everyone who made the Older People Provider’s & Memory Support Fayre such a tremendous success. Your support and participation help to create a more informed, inclusive, and supportive community for older adults across West Lothian.
We hope to see you again at our future events!
