A Year of Fundraising for Weston Hospicecare

What we did and how much we raised for our chosen charity of the year...

At the beginning of September 2023, we decided we would like to choose a charity of the year to concentrate all our fundraising efforts on. After putting out a vote to our Care Pros, the charity we decided on was Weston Hospicecare. This charity means a lot to so many of us who have personal experience with their amazing service, so we were happy to help do our bit. We held various fundraising events and activities in the twelve months that followed, including: Cake sales, raffles, a walk along the sea front, staff drop-in days and a big summer fundraising event with fashion show held at Worle Community Centre.

We had a great response with our public events, the cake sales we held outside our Office we especially popular! Our summer fundraiser was a lot of fun, we had a lot of jumble to sell, alongside offering a raffle and a cream tea to purchase. We also managed to rope some of our team members in to being models for a pre-loved clothes fashion show on stage! They took to the catwalk like naturals and managed to sell quite a few outfits. We’ve also had support with our fundraising from local rising star and friend of Home Instead, Wezley Webber, who supported 2 of our events free of charge. All our team members that joined in with the fundraising did an amazing job and we thank them all so much for their support. We are proud and lucky to have such a wonderful team!

September 2024 marked the end of our fundraising year, so we tallied up the totals. We are delighted to announce we raised a fantastic £2,016.19! This was donated to Weston Hospicecare’s fundraising team, and they even came to our office for a cheque presentation! Esther and Zoe from Weston Hospicecare were full of praise for our efforts and said “Weston Hospicecare is profoundly grateful to Home Instead for their outstanding fundraising efforts. Your generosity directly supports the compassionate care we provide, helping us meet the £5.9 million it takes each year to keep our services running. We cannot thank you enough for your kindness and commitment, which make a real difference to the lives of those we care for.”

We were delighted, a week later, to see we had been featured on the front page of our local newspaper, the Weston, Worle & Somerset Mercury. What an amazing achievement!

We are having a short break from fundraising for the rest of the year, and come January, will be choosing our next charity of the year! We have asked all of our Care Professionals and our Clients to give us a call if they have any suggestions for us to pick from.
