We’re thrilled to welcome Ruth to the Home Instead Wetherby family as our new Deputy Care Manager! With a passion for empowering clients and a deep commitment to person-centred care, Ruth is a perfect fit for our team. Last week, we caught up with her to get to know her a little better and find out what drew her to Home Instead Wetherby.
“Home Instead really empowers both clients and the people who work here,” Ruth told us. “The client is at the heart of everything Home Instead does, and it’s so rewarding for me to work alongside a team that shares those same values.”
As our new Deputy Care Manager, Ruth has already shown how committed she is to support the team and ensuring our clients can live independently in their own homes. This role is key to everything we do, and Ruth has made it clear that it’s a top priority for her.
When she’s not busy coordinating care or supporting the team, Ruth makes sure to take time for herself. For her, self-care is simple: “Walking with family is my go-to. It helps me recharge and stay connected.”
Her career has been filled with memorable moments, but one that stands out is working with young children to help them stay in school. “Seeing them become successful in their future lives is incredibly rewarding,” Ruth recalls. She also cherishes the experience of helping a client with dementia stay at home with the right support. “It’s moments like these that remind me why I do what I do.”
After a busy day, Ruth unwinds with CrossFit. “It’s my way of letting go of the day’s stresses,” she says. And if she could have any superpower to help in her job, it would be flying. “I’d love to get around to see everyone quicker and not be stuck in traffic,” she laughs.
As for her work essentials, Ruth keeps it simple: “The team, the clients, and coffee first thing in the morning!” she admits. She also lives by the best piece of advice she’s ever received: “To believe in yourself.” It’s a simple but powerful reminder that has helped her throughout her career.
For a bit of fun, we asked who she would choose if she could coordinate a care day for any fictional character. Ruth’s choice? “Paddington Bear,” she says with a smile. “He’s always caring for others.”
We’re so glad to have Ruth on board. Her passion, dedication, and warm-hearted approach are already making a positive impact. Welcome to the family, Ruth! 💜
