Activities to enjoy with older adults this Easter

Easter activities aren’t just for the children – there are many simple and fun activities that older adults can do at home to enjoy the Easter celebrations.

Easter is a time of celebration for many people, whether that’s attending a church service on Easter Sunday or simply enjoying time spent with the family.

Our Care Professionals who are visiting clients this weekend, will be making the Easter weekend as special as they can for our clients.  This may involve some baking, crafts or simply reminiscing over a cup of tea.

Easter activities aren’t just for the children – there are many simple and fun activities that older adults can do at home to enjoy the Easter celebrations.  Why not try some of the following ideas:

Baking Hot Cross Buns

A traditional activity, and a delight for the senses with that lovely scent of spices in the air – sure to bring back lots of memories and of course, perfect for an afternoon treat alongside your cuppa.

Easter Cards

Why not make or decorate your own cards to send love to family and friends to let them know you are thinking about them.

Decorating Eggs

Boiled Eggs are perfect for breakfast or a light snack in the day – but before tucking into them why not decorate them with pens or paints with some bright spring colours.

Easter Egg Hunt

You don’t even need to have a garden to do this activity – a few small eggs could be hidden around the home, even in just one room for a bit of playful and light-hearted fun that harks back to childhood games.

Enjoying seasonal activities throughout the year, such as these Easter traditions offer meaningful ways to connect with others and offer some great opportunities to reminisce about the good old days.  It also helps to create new, fun memories too.  For older adults, especially those who live alone, these small moments can make a huge difference to their wellbeing.

Activities are also a great way to keep the mind stimulated and some, like the Easter Egg hunts, can also support physical movement.  There are so many benefits to take from these small moments of celebration.

Do you need help to support a loved one at home?
