Home Instead became the first ever home care company to receive the Queen’s Award for Enterprise, in the Innovation category.
Lord Lieutenant David Briggs, previously Her Majesty The Queen’s representative for Cheshire, presented Home Instead UK with the accolade saying: “The Queen has been so impressed with your single-minded determination to give the elderly what they want – to cherish, or dare I say to love and to truly care for them – and for that you are today presented with this award.
“You have also understood that one of the biggest killers in old age is loneliness and so your carers are not just there to clean or to cook or to dress the person being cared for – but they are there as a friend and companion and they spend time talking to and getting to know their client, they develop a close bond and become a friend.
“And it is for that that you have an award for innovation – relationship care – matching the carer to the client and of course making sure that the same carer sees the same client over a long period.”
Home Instead believes that care should always be relationship led. That means that we get to know clients before providing them with a care service, so we can match them with a Care Professional that they can easily bond with and trust. As a result, delivering care that is highly personalised to the individual comes naturally. Care Professionals become true companions and thanks to knowing clients for the long term, they closely monitor for any changes in their health and wellbeing and ensure that any concerns are flagged early to a health professional.
