The Organisation for the Review of Care and Health Applications (ORCHA)

Digital health is revolutionising health and care services, but with hundreds of thousands of apps available, and the majority being of poor quality, there needs to be a way to find the right digital solutions. Developed by clinicians, ORCHA’s AppFinder gives unlimited access to thousands of independent app reviews across all health conditions.

You will be signposted to apps which can help with your health across a wide range of areas, from general wellbeing to more specific conditions such as Parkinson’s.

A simple way to enhance care with Apps

Healthy ageing involves many things – managing health, staying active physically and mentally, eating well, enjoying hobbies and maintaining social connections.

It can be difficult to know where to find the most accurate and helpful advice. That’s why we’ve teamed up with ORCHA to provide bespoke access to the best health and care apps on the market. From apps relating to nutrition and exercise to those supporting with age-related conditions, any apps recommended have undergone a rigorous review and quality assurance process. Expert reviewers work closely with national health bodies and health service providers such as the national NHS Digital programme to accredit only the most reputable apps.

Who are ORCHA?

ORCHA are the world’s leading, independent health and care app evaluation and distribution organisation. They help governments, as well as health and social care organisations, to choose and deliver quality assured apps. Their vision is to assist in the safe integration of digital health solutions into all aspects of health and care services, leading to more patient-centred, effective care.

How up to date are ORCHAs reviews?

ORCHA monitors all the apps available on both the iTunes platform and Google Play on a weekly basis, reassessing any updated or new versions of apps as and when required. They will flag any updated reviews with a notification that it relates to an older version until it has been reassessed. It is important to only rely on reviews that relate to current versions of an app due to the possible changes in its performance, as well as any risks and issues.
