Steps to success: Joining Home Instead Hereford

Discover our professional recruitment process for Care Professionals at Home Instead Hereford. Join us in making a difference.

At Home Instead Hereford, we are dedicated to providing exceptional care to older adults in our community. The foundation of our success stems from our local team of Care Professionals, if you’re considering a career with us, here’s a friendly outline with some tips of what to expect from the moment you let our team know you are interested.

We’ll be in touch quickly

When you apply online or respond to one of our social media posts, our approach is to get in touch promptly. If you reach out to us during business hours, you can anticipate a return call the same day. Even in the event it’s later in the evening, we always aim to get in touch by the next day at the latest.

During our introductory chat, which typically lasts about 10-15 minutes, we’ll want to find out why you’re interested in joining us and discuss the unique aspects of our approach to care at Home Instead Hereford. This conversation is also the perfect opportunity for us to reconfirm practical matters, such as ensuring you have your own reliable transport and the right to work in the UK. It’s also a great time for you to ask any initial questions and make sure we are a good fit.

Getting in touch quickly

An interview in person

If we both feel that the job role is a good fit, we’ll invite you to an interview at our local office in Hereford, which we will always try to schedule at your earliest convenience. Following our phone call, we’ll send a confirmation of the date and time. Our interviews are thorough, yet personal, taking around 45 minutes. We want to get to know you and understand your passion for care and your match for the role.

Come along to our engaging assessment day

Pass the interview, which we hope you do and you’ll be welcomed to our next upcoming Assessment Day, these are normally held within two weeks from your interview date. With groups of 3-6 candidates, these days are not just informative, but we hope they will be fun and enjoyable too. We take pride in starting the day with an introduction by one of our Owners, Andrew or Natalie, sharing the core values that make our Home Instead Hereford home care service stand out. You’ll meet some of our office team, usually including Wendy who plays a pivotal role in ensuring all our Care Professionals’ training is up-to-date.

A warm welcome call

Without leaving you in suspense, we make it a point to call you the following morning with the good news should you be successful. Following this, the journey to becoming a fully-fledged Care Professional begins with a DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) application enabling us to make safe choices in our recruitment, and online training, we’ll also schedule shadowing visits with one of our Care Professionals – a chance to learn directly from experience, ideally with the same clients you’ll soon be supporting. We always strive to match our clients and Care Professionals carefully, based on skills, personality, shared interests, availability and client’s needs – and we always introduce you to a new client personally.

A warm welcome call
